Paul Camarro was born in Brooklyn, New York and has lived in beautiful Sussex County, NJ since the 1980s. He is an accomplished painter, illustrator and fine art photographer. Several art awards he has received include a Fine Arts Scholarship from St. John’s University. He also received a BFA from Pratt Institute.

His professional career has included positions as art director and graphic designer, as well as, set decorator, scenic artist and property master in the theatrical and motion picture industries. He owns and operates Camarro Studios art & photography.

Paul’s favorite medium is oil painting. He paints scenes of places he has been, either in reality or his imagination; sometimes a combination bringing the artistic vision into the realm of surrealism. His art reflects the influence of the realist masters, such as Frederick Edwin Church and the Hudson Valley School and 20th century surrealist movement.

He believes there is incredible art all around us, both natural and man made. The challenge is creating images that people can enjoy and that will be remembered.
