Deirdre Wexler is mostly a self-taught artist, drawing and painting her whole life. She employs a variety of mediums: crayons, watercolors, fabric paint, fabric and sewing fabric, paper, acrylic pours, wood burning, acrylics, various markers and pens, on a variety of surfaces including wood, rock, driftwood, watercolor paper, sketching paper, canvases and glass. She sculpts in clay, creates birdhouses, jewelry, sewn purses and even cell phone cases!

When graduating from junior high school, she applied and was accepted to the renown HS of Art & Design in Manhattan attending the 10th, 11th and 12th grades. Prospective students were required to submit a portfolio of art. During her time in High School, she was exposed to many different kinds of art including photography, sculpture, drafting, watercolor painting, and fashion illustration. In addition Deirdre has training from the Art Student’s League in Manhattan.

Deirdre has many items in private collections and has participates in many art shows, winning awards across northern NJ. She has exhibited at the Back Room Gallery in Beacon, NY, Alumni Art Show in Manhattan and Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ. One of her paintings in Pixoto was included in the Best of 2015.
